Advanced Automotive Diagnostics for the Modern-Day Locksmith

This course is designed for experienced automotive locksmiths who want to move beyond basic key programming and develop a more complete diagnostic approach. Students will learn how to evaluate vehicle communication problems, interpret diagnostic trouble codes and live data, identify module or network faults, and determine whether a failed programming procedure is caused by the vehicle, the equipment, the software, or the technician's process.

The class will also cover practical diagnostic workflows for immobilizer and key-related systems, proper use of scan tools and service information, module identification, voltage and communication checks, and recognizing when an OEM platform or additional repair work is required. Real-world examples will be used to help students diagnose problems efficiently and avoid unnecessary module replacement.
