Course Overview:
This full-day, hands-on course provides locksmiths with practical training in soldering, desoldering, and working with EEPROM components inside automotive ECUs and immobilizer modules. Each student will be provided with soldering equipment and will gain direct experience identifying components, acquiring data, and modifying memory devices.
You Will Learn:
- Proper soldering and desoldering techniques for ECU and immobilizer modules
- EEPROM basics: identification, in-circuit reading, removal, and reinstallation
- Using real-world tools such as VVDI Prog, Tango, and laptops to acquire, read, and modify EEPROM data
- Hands-on practice with a variety of modules, including Toyota ECU, Saab CIM, Volvo Blue/Black Box, BMW EWS3/EWS4, and Mercedes EIS
- Data handling skills to support key programming, troubleshooting, and immobilizer repairs
Class Format:
Students will work in pairs, using identical modules to complete guided exercises in real time with the instructors. Training begins with simple in-circuit EEPROM examples and progresses to more advanced techniques, building confidence and competence step by step.
